Chapter 262 Retreat

"Your Majesty! Terrible things have happened!" A shriek filled a dark room. One that was familiar to this particular messenger.

The dark and shadowy atmosphere here was one that he was accustomed to.

"What happened, Belhondir? Why are you so worried?" The king was seated this time.

Seated in a throne that was far too big for a man of such stature. But Belhondir didn\'t dare say a thing about it.

"The battalion that you sent, Your Majesty! They came back!"

"That is a good thing, is it not? I told you, they were over kill for these intruders. Yet you were the one who kept pushing to send them to the front lines. Such a waste of time." The king brushed it off.

"That wasn\'t the problem, Your Majesty! They came back injured! More then two thirds of them vanquished, and the captain almost died! He had to use his sacrificial move to survive. This battalion its dead now!" Belhondir said.

"He used the sacrificial move? What heaven defier is strong enough to force him to do that?" The king asked, a faint smile appearing on his face.

"This is interesting. For the first time in a millennia, will there actually be someone strong enough to force himself through the doors of Battulda? It has been a while, so I thought it would be impossible. But now, it seems all the more possible." The king said, shaking his head.

Belhondir was struck silent. He didn\'t know what to say. This was a terrible thing in his head, but his leader was clearly talking amusement from this.

"Don\'t worry about what is going to happen, Belhondir. What is the worst thing that could possibly happen? They might reach the first wall. And let us say they manage to conquer that wall, somehow."

"Then, they will just get closer to their impending doom. It has been a while, and the soldiers were clamoring for new weapons and meat, weren\'t they? Then this is their answer."

"So should we send in two battalions this time, Your Majesty?" Belhondir asked.

"Not yet. Let them reach the gates. Let us see if they can pass the gates of Battulda. And if Battulda actually falls to a single opponent, then this player is actually someone that I have to fear." The king nodded.

"There is some clamor among the soldiers as well, Your Majesty." Belhondir said.

"About what?" The king\'s expression got cold.

"The world giant. They say that the world giant moved because there was actually someone in the small army that is coming here, that the world giant recognized." Belhondir said.

"And who knows more about this world giant? These soldiers? Or me?" The king scoffed.

"Of course, you, Your Majesty." Belhondir knelt on the ground immediately, sensing his master\'s anger.

"Good. Then you know to quell these rumors. And after this, bring that captain who lost his dignity over here. I want to deal with him myself." The king scoffed.

Belhondir nodded as he slowly slipped away into the shadows, leaving the king alone.

"Sigh!"

The king sighed resting on his throne. He shook his head and looked to his right.

"Someone that the world giant actually recognizes? What do you think?" He asked.

There was no response.

"Of course, you agree, don\'t you? You were probably the one who sowed this dissent into my ranks in the first place." The king laughed.

Still, there was no response.

"Forget it. I have to deal with this one. Perhaps I have to enter the front lines immediately, and maybe destroy him so that he will never come crawling back." The king was about to get up, but suddenly sat back down.

"For this, suddenly, you react. Who are you even supporting? Him, or me?" The king laughed.

"You shall not enter the battle until the right time. Unattended, there will only be chaos in these lands. The power that you suppress here is no small one. If unleashed, then your kind along with me, all of us will be destroyed. I don\'t want to see that happening." A deep voice said.

"Whatever. As long as we find the right item among the heaven defiers that came here, we can stop this from happening." The king said, shaking his head.

"I can feel it. Do not worry. The artifact was in these lands for a long time, and it would only surface when the heaven defiers arrived. Now, they did. So one of the heaven defiers is bound to have the artifact with them." The deep voice said.

"All I need to do now is take care of these heaven defiers. Seems easy enough, isn\'t it? Then why the hell are my men dying?" The king scowled.

"I didn\'t expect them to grow as strong as they did. The others all died according to plan didn\'t they? This batch is special. But regardless, they will fall just as quickly as all the others have fallen." The deep voice said.

"Yeah. Defeating Battulda. Even I struggled to face that mad man. And as he stalls those men, maybe I can ambush them from the sides?" The king suggested.

"Do not push fate. There are times when you should not intervene. I already allowed you to intervene enough. This is enough. There is a reason the heaven defiers have equal right to these lands as you do." The deep voice said with a thunder voice.

The king paused.

"If you think that I will be stupid enough to let them conquer my land, then keep dreaming. There is no way I will let them just run around like this, taking over my land and actually threatening to take my position." The king said.

"This is final. Now you better go back to sleep, or you might actually get injured." The king smiled.
